5 Important Questions about University Dining Services Answered

post2header

According to an article posted on washingtonpost.com, there are five important questions each high school senior should ask and know about the dining service program at the college they are considering attending. We’d like to make it easy for all future students who may be considering attending Andrews University to understand the wide variety of food offerings the Universities dining service program can offer them.

Here are our answers to the 5 important dining program questions:

1.  Will my dietary needs be met?

Vegetarian and vegan. We exclusively serve only vegetarian and vegan foods. The variety that you will see in both the Terrace Café and Gazebo eateries is rather extraordinary. We offer hot lines for every meal of the day, along with some staples that are the same for every meal, such as stir fry, rice, beans, and vegan pizza.

Made without gluten. We offer several choices for our customers with gluten intolerance and celiac disease. Some of those choices include the sandwiches at the Gazebo can be made on bread without gluten, and we have a full salad bar in the Terrace Café for every meal except breakfast. If you’re unsure what items are made without gluten, just ask our chefs.

Allergies. At Andrews University dining services we pride ourselves on being able to help anyone with their dietary needs. Just ask us, and we can set up a meeting to discuss your needs.

2.  What are the meal plans?

Currently, we have two meal plan options. The details for those and the information relating to which one you would be on can be found on our website. For our Gazebo, which is a made-to-order café and campus grocer, the menu is a la carte, which means that the items are purchased at individual prices. Our Terrace Cafe is all-you-can-eat buffet for one price at every meal.

3.  How green are the services?

In our kitchens we make sure to recycle whenever possible, and include specific recycling trash cans. We also have a recycling dumpster just outside our building that the campus, and students are free to use. We have reusable carry-out containers that you can request at our office for any meal you wish to carry-out. In addition to these services, we also make sure to buy an average of 15% of our products from local farmers and artisans.

4.  Do students have a say?

Yes, students do have a say in their food services experience. We welcome any student group on the Andrews University campus to set up a meeting with our managers to discuss the food program. In the Terrace Café, there is a comments board that students are welcome to fill out a comment card for. In the future, we are hoping to create a survey for the students to fill out online in order to better our services consistently. Our dining services are here for the students, and we care what they think!

5.  How healthful is the food?

The food we make at Andrews University dining services is made from scratch with fresh and local ingredients whenever possible. We only cook vegan and vegetarian meals, which are very healthy, and we try to provide the most unique and delicious healthy meals possible. If you are interested in the nutrition facts for a specific product or food item, we are certainly more than happy to provide you with that information.

Are you considering attending Andrews University? What are some menu items you would like to see?

  1. I’m really impressed along with your writing skills as neatly as with the format in your blog. Is this a paid subject matter or did you modify it your self? Either way keep up the excellent high quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one today..

  2. Hi! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog
platform are you using for this website? I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve
had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
